I started seeing Dr. Fan at the end of 2011. My husband and I had been dealing with infertility for almost 4 years with 3 miscarriages, one that was with IVF (in vitro fertilization). I came across articles about acupuncture for infertility and figured why not, I’ve tried just about everything at this point. That was the best decision I made. Adding acupuncture to my fertility treatments was the only change I made compared to previous treatments and I’m happy to say my daughter just turned 2 last week. I truly feel that had I not done the acupuncture I wouldn’t have my daughter. Like I said, it was the only thing I did different from my previous IVF. The treatments have also helped with my menstrual cycle. They use to be really painful leading up to the cycle as well as during. They also use to vary in the amount of days. No more!! In pursuit of getting pregnant many years ago, I happened to be fortunate enough to find Dr. Fan! For three months I went for acupuncture and took herbal formulas in hopes of being successful with conceiving AND more importantly holding on to the pregnancy( I had a history of miscarriages). Inexplicable Issues
I am very happy, I was able to find Dr. Fan’s practice. I came to Dr. Fan after spending thousand of dollars in medical doctors, procedures and countless tests for over 6 months only to continue to experience the same symptoms and with zero improvement. The worst and most terrifying part for me was seeing how my doctors continue to prescribe medications that had severe side effects and without having a specific diagnosis. I was tired and felt helpless so started researching online for alternatives which is how I found Dr. Fan’s practice. I went for an induction session with Dr Fan and delivered my first child (on his due date, without hospital induction) 2 days later. Words cannot describe what Dr. Fan has done for me. I suffered from severe Crohn’s disease and IBS for 20 years. I was prescribed various medicines to treat my condition from American Dr’s and none of them gave me any positive results, only terrible side effects. On my first visit to Dr. Fan I starting feeling better. I continued going to her and the results are totally amazing. I am 27 years old and was diagnosed with Advanced Crohns 3 years ago ….before being diagnoised I dropped from 130 lbs. To 96 lbs. In 6 months! I suffered from numerous symptoms.
For 3 years I have been on many different medications and in and out of the hospital constantly. I have taken Prednisone 40 mg. (pill), Remicade (by 3 hr. IV), Humira (shot), Flagyl (pill), Cimzia (shot) and others I can’t recall. I have seen many doctors and hospitals. I have under gone many Colonoscopys, X-rays, MRIs, Blood
transfusions, Iron infusions and other procedures. After 3 years I still had to make frequent visits to the hospital for a week or longer stay.
On March 8, 2010 I came into Dr. Fan’s office and got a free consultation. She made me feel really comfortable and showed me how acupuncture worked. I had my first session that day and since then I have stopped ALL medication except prednisone which I only take occasionally (10 mg.). I seldom have stomach pain and all my other symptoms have depreciated. My weight is at a steady 120, I sleep well, eat well, have no blood present in my stool and over all feel GREAT! Although my insurance covered all the treatments I had before Dr. Fan and not acupuncture, I would rather pay to be healthy than live and be sick!
I recommend this to anyone who has Crohns because I have NEVER gone this long without being admitted to the hospital or in major pain. Now I an live my life without having to worry about what my Crohns will not let me accomplish. I have goals that I can see now…becoming a wife, having a child and finishing school…this is all possible thanks to acupuncture. Thank you Dr. Fan.

I managed my Crohn’s disease for 20 years through medications and the SCD diet, but I had been struggling unsuccessfully for the past year to get over a flare up. I was taking more medication than ever and I was still having unacceptable symptoms. Faced with the unappealing prospect of more drugs, I started doing research on effective symptom management and ran across a couple articles about Crohn’s patients who benefited from acupuncture. Gall Bladder Issue
I started going to Dr. Fan about 13 years or so ago. She calmed my gall bladder down in about 6 sessions. I’ve never had it removed and never had problems with it since. Amen!
My right salivary gland had a large stone in it. It swelled up with an infection in June 2014 and was treated with antibiotics. The Maxillofacial Surgeon said it probably had been there for quite a while, that we were going to just watch it, and try not to undergo surgery to remove the gland. The week of September 22, the gland started acting up again. I feared that I would have to have surgery. My husband suggested I go see Dr. Fan!!! After my first treatment with her (September 25) and herbs, it was painful to use my tongue. My tongue and gland were swollen. I had a hard time talking, eating, swallowing, spitting. With prayer and anointing of oil on September 28, and GOD using Dr. Fan’s hands, it is no longer a problem. Monday, September 29, from the salivary gland, I spit out the very large stone fully and completely, without pain or bleeding. Praise GOD! Thank you Dr. Fan!!

Hear ye, hear ye! I’m only going to say this once. Dr. Yali Fan, Doctor of Oriental Medicine (DOM), is a genuine healer and I mean that in all of its subtle permutations. She not only has the education, knowledge and necessary skills, based on thirty years of practice diagnosing and treating a myriad of maladies, she also radiates a calming presence, which I believe aids critically in the healing process. In fact, based on my personal experience, she can treat countless disorders not just those that are sanctioned by the National Institute of Health (NIH). NIH limits their endorsement of acupuncture to chronic pain. But, since NIH is primarily made up of mainstream medical doctors, maybe they have a vested interest in disparaging “alternative” therapies. I first went to Dr. Fan in the spring of 2014 out of desperation for unrelenting, troublesome constipation that was caused by lumbar surgery in 1983. That’s thirty-one years of misery for which I consulted multiple mainstream medical doctors with multiple medical specialties, including a shrink. After thirty-one years with numerous MRIs, CT scans, scopes inserted in both ends and delicious barium swallows 🙁 and enemas, I was told it was all in my head. A well-meaning shrink proved to be even less helpful than the rest of the medical “professionals” that reviewed my case: gastroenterologists, radiologists, pathologist etc. Nonetheless, the shrink did conclude that I’m not crazy. In very short order after consulting with Dr. Fan she restarted my sleeping colon, no peristalsis, using extremely ancient skills that she employs with great talent. My bowels work normally now. Dr. Fan is currently working on other seemingly intractable issues caused by years of injuries sustained in my impetuous youth and while in the Marine Corps in Vietnam. Now I’ve finally convinced my wife to see Dr. Fan. The results of one week of acupuncture are seemingly miraculous. My wife has been plagued with “night terrors” ever since a botched brain surgery in 1995. That was nineteen years ago and she has consulted multiple doctors and tried numerous prescription drugs to alleviate her nightmares, all to no avail. As of this writing, June 23, 2014, she has had three acupuncture treatments and the nightmares stopped on the first treatment. She now sleeps like a baby, which is good because I don’t have to keep waking her up in the middle of the night. I feel deep remorse for all those wasted years of consulting mainstream medical doctors—maybe I need to consult that well-meaning shrink again to work through my guilt. Unfortunately, ignorance of my options wasn’t the only reason that I didn’t consult a DOM sooner. Finances were a concern. After all, we had comprehensive medical insurance that paid all except the co-payment for mainstream medical treatments. How absurd it that, I ask you? We sacrificed actually being healed so we could consult clueless medical doctors, meager body mechanics, because they were paid for by our insurance. Our reward for being frugal was thirty years of chronic pain. To paraphrase Rudyard Kipling, “Hear and attend and listen.” If you’re ailing or if you know someone who is, go see Dr. Fan. Unfortunately, I know from personal experience that you can lead a horse to water… Joe

After twenty years of the VA controlling my back pain with opiates, they (the VA) gave me the opportunity to stop the opiates and try a different approach to my pain management. I was referred to an acupuncture practice in Tampa with Dr. Yali Fan and Dr. Jennifer Nahon.
First they stopped my opiate cravings, then they treated my Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) by making me so calm, even our family friends and my Psychologist were very surprised by my new demeanor. All the while working on my back pain.
It has taken several months to reduce the pain levels in my back. At first the pain relief only lasted overnight, which was wonderful. Then my pain relief started to last 48 hours, then 72 hours. Dr Fan Yali has done a wonderful job helping me; approx. three weeks ago, after a leisurely bike ride, I completely blacked out. When I woke up; I was unable to move the fingers on both of my hands and thought that I had had a stroke. After a trip to the emergency room, several tests, and the neurologist informing me that he had no idea the issue as all my results including a MRI and EKG show my health to be that of a teenager not a 40 year old; I decided to check into acupuncture. I have been a patient of Dr. Fan for a very long time now. I have been to at least 3 different Acupuncturists in Tampa & she is by far the very best there is. She has successfully been treating me for a digestive disease called Gastroparesis & I honestly can’t imagine where I would be had I not found her. She not only has an honest caring desire to actually help people get better (unlike most Doctors), but she also has the skills to make it happen. One thing that has positioned her above the rest is the fact that she will actually do more for her patients that others do in her field. I have two herniated discs in my lower back located between L4, L5 and S1. This has been a problem for me for almost 15 years. I had seen many doctors way back when and have had many different treatments including drug therapy and steroid injections. These different treatments would work for a short period of time and then back to the doctor I would go. Surgery, to me, has never been an option. I could not find one doctor to tell me that after going through surgery that it would in fact fix my problem, basically I wanted a 100% guarantee and no one was willing to give me that. I have lived with pain which has come and gone since then.
Recently that changed. On Friday, July 9, 2010 my back went out due to a series of events that had preceded it. The pain was so great that it would take my breath away and make me physically exhausted and nauseous. I couldn’t sit, I couldn’t stand, and I couldn’t lie down in any position comfortably. I called Dr. Fan’s office on the 10th after having countless people mention acupuncture and Dr. Fan’s name came up several times. I did some research and decided to give acupuncture a try. Over the past 3 years I went to various doctors for increased Tinnitus, inability to heal quickly, exhaustion, and digestive issues. Intractable Nausea
I had been suffering from intractable nausea for about 8 months when I started seeing Dr. Fan. I had an extensive medical work up and the cause of my nausea was never identified but tests suggested that I had idiopathic or post viral gastropariesis. I had tried everything to help with my nausea and nothing worked. After about 2-3 weeks of seeing Dr. Fan my nausea was significantly better. After 4-5 weeks it was gone. I also suffer from headaches which she was able to help me with as well. I have herniated discs in L5 and S1 causing a sciatic nerve pain down my left leg. I received (2) steroid treatments and physical therapy and it wasn’t relieving the pain and my doctor suggested surgery. Matter of fact, the PT put me on crutches thinking it would take the pressure off my back but it caused atrophy in my left calf muscle. A friend of mine suggested acupuncture and I was very fortunate to find Dr. Yali Fan. Literally, I could not lay on my stomach because of my lower back pain. She is amazing. I have suffered from bladder infections/spasms for over 20 years. It has been a roller coaster ride the past two years since I was diagnosed with prostate cancer and its corresponding bone metastasis. As a patient of yours for the past two months, I would like to thank you for helping me with the pain I have been experiencing since chemotherapy treatment for Breast Cancer left me with Fibromyalgia. I had been to numerous medical doctors for this pain, including a Rheumatologist; and, in spite of daily prescription drugs and many rounds of physical therapy, I was in constant pain all over my body, particularly in my neck, shoulders and back. Just moving from a sitting or lying position to standing position was very painful. I would say that my pain has been reduced about 70%! I’m looking forward to feeling even better. My friends and family say I’m almost like my old self. I know that the depression I had sunk into because of the pain and inability to pursue my active life, has lifted considerably! My wife and I have tried several diets in the past. While we have experienced moderate success with them, we have never accomplished what happened when we participated in the cleansing diet.
We try to keep our weight under control by working out 40 minutes per day 4 times a week. But recently we have not been able to lose any weight. In March of 2009, we added the cleanse to our weekly routine and the results were amazing. My wife lot 8 lbs. And 2 inches off her waist. I lost 12 lbs. And 4 inches off my waist. After over two years of regular treatments with Dr. Fan I have had NO reoccurrences of the Bells Palsy. I had only minor reoccurrence of lip swelling one time after I visited a very cold northern climate a year and a half ago and was treated by Dr. Fan and cured quickly. Since that reoccurrence in 2006, I have no lip swelling experience to date. My furrowed and red tongue is almost normal. My weight has also dropped over 70 pounds since I began treatment. Dr. Fan’s advice regarding diet and exercise as well as ongoing use of herbs and acupuncture has helped me in my weight loss. I would say my health at this time is abundant and I have not had the flu or a cold in over 1.5 years as my health has improved. Bakers Cyst
I was looking for a non-invasive solution for a Bakers cyst behind the knee. I have been seeing Dr. Fan for almost three years. I first came to her because I was having horrible stomach pain, which began when I was caring for my terminally ill mother. They were alleviated my first time on the table. I have been seeing her ever since.
I am convinced that Dr. Fan gently persuading me to take precaution before I needed it is part of the reason that my trip to Tanzania, Africa was the most wonderful, fabulous, best trip ever taken by anyone adventure of a lifetime.
Part of my preparation for a three week trip I was taking in late January to Tanzania, Africa, was making sure my immune system was geared up by seeing Dr. Fan immediately prior to my departure. She suggested several herbs that I should take with me “just in case”. I was allowed one 26” suitcase and a backpack by our outfitters because we would be moving to several different campgrounds. We also had to purchase Medi-Vac insurance because we would be deep in the bush if we got sick, it would be the only route for care. We would be brought back to the U.S. So, although I had limited space, I not only took those herbs with me but I also took her Golden Throat cough drops and the homeopathic nose spray for sinusitis.
When we got back to Arusha for our last night before flying out, one of the hotel employees remembered me from the first day. He asked me how I was and I said, “Great, I wish I could go out again.” He told me that most people return to the hotel from safari with colds or flu but he could tell that I was fine.

I am a Viet Nam veteran helicopter pilot. I was shot down seven times in combat and I am a 100% disabled.
After twenty years of the VA controlling my back pain with opiates, they (the VA) gave me the opportunity to stop the opiates and try a different approach to my pain management. I was referred to an acupuncture practice in Tampa with Dr. Yali Fan and Dr. Jennifer Nahon.
First they stopped my opiate cravings, then they treated my Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) by making me so calm, even our family friends and my Psychologist were very surprised by my new demeanor. All the while working on my back pain.
It has taken several months to reduce the pain levels in my back. At first the pain relief only lasted over night, which was wonderful. Then my pain relief started to last 48 hours, then 72 hours. I am still going three days a week, but plan to reduce my treatments to two days a week soon, as my newfound mobility has me back to a life full of gardening and social activities I had long since abandoned due to my extreme back pain.
And the two Angels that look like Doctors have changed my life. No more Opiates, no more twenty four hour pain, just a calm pain free life with more sleep and more activity doing what ever I want, not one thought of the limiting back pain that ruled my life just a few months ago.

I had been diagnosed with hypothyroidism about two years ago. Also, as far back as I can remember I have had severe problems with my menstrual cycle. When I first came to see Dr. Fan on recommendations of a good friend of mine, I was feeling very drained out with very low energy and insomnia. All the conventional medications had done me no good. Moreover, I had heard horror stories about the side effects of medications traditionally prescribed for conditions such as hypothyroidism.
After a few visits, I felt much better, my energy was back up, and I also slept well. With regular treatments for three months, my energy levels are much better and my thyroid tests are normal. I have regular menstrual cycles without multiple symptoms associated with the premenstrual syndrome (PMS). Since the past few months I have seen doctor Fan about once a month for health maintenance.
I have a six-year-old boy. Dr. Fan treated him for ear infections and fluid in his ears. She didn’t use any needles on him. She only used Chinese Pediatric Massage, which is called “Tuina”. It worked very well for him. He is a healthy boy now.
We admire Dr. Fan for her expertise and knowledge. We also thank her for her patience and kindness in listening to our problems and making treatment plans specific to our individual conditions. She really is one of the best in her field!

My daughter started seeing Dr. Fan in April 2015. She was diagnosed in September 2014 with epilepsy (Absences Seizures to be exact). She was put on medicine right away. It was not controlling the seizures so we upped her dose. We continuously upped her medicine until we got her to the max dose. We got an EEG in Match that showed she still had 30 seizures in 15 hours on the max dose of medicine. Our next step was to give her additional medicine. Given that she is only 4 years old, my husband and I did not want to give her any more medicine then she was already on. We started seeing Dr. Fan and she used acupressure to treat my daughter’s epilepsy. She knew that she was too young for needles and used a massage method to treat her pressure points. Every time she treated my daughter she was very patient and nurturing. She truly cared for her health. In June we had a 48 hour EEG that showed my daughter had zero seizures. Acupuncture with Dr. Fan cured my daughter. We are eternally grateful! We still take medication, and we will see Dr. Fan continuously to keep my daughter in the best health, but we are so excited to have a clear EEG! Thank you Dr. Fan!!!!

Snoring and Sinusitis
I took my 4 year old son to Dr Fan in hopes of getting help with his snoring. The snoring had gotten pretty severe and he was unable to sleep through the night which was causing him to be chronically tired and cranky. The recommended treatment for him was surgery. After just 2 visits and Dr Fan’s recommended dietary modifications his snoring stopped. He was able to sleep through the night uninterrupted and he woke up rested and happy again. Knee Pain and Arthritis
Dr. Fan is by far the best acupuncturist around the Tampa Bay area. She has helped my mom reduce the pain in her knee from arthritis. She has the innate ability to truly understand her patients and treat them to solve the problem rather than just mask the issue as so many doctors will do today. She will take the time to talk to you and give you guidance to treat your ailment and takes pride when her patients heal and produce results.
